Cynthia Hashert has been named interim director at the Auraria Library, following the resignation of Mary Somerville, who served as director for the past eight years.
Hashert has served in various roles at Auraria Library since 1996, most recently as associate director for education, research, and access services—a role in which she has furthered the library’s vision of “library as lab,” by bringing together tools, technology and resources to support the needs of modern student scholars. Her efforts have led the development of the people and creation of the departments responsible for this new work.
In addition to significantly furthering the library’s human resources, Hashert has also provided leadership since 2009 for the facility renovation.
“I have continued to carry the vision of creating a 21st century library where people, resources, technology and services come together in delightful spaces that stimulate learning, research, creativity, collaboration and community,” Hashert said.
Hashert will assume the interim director position beginning January 1, 2016, replacing Mary Somerville, who resigned to accept a position as university librarian at University of the Pacific in California. A search for the next permanent director of Auraria Library is expected to take place in 2016.
