Being involved on campus is one of the key elements to
having a successful career in college. The Office of Student Life works
diligently year-round to provide opportunities for students to get involved in
a variety of activities.
One of the first events of this new school year was today’s Student Involvement Fair featuring information tables representing many different groups from the Auraria Campus as well as from the broader Denver community.
Joe Halter, assistant director of the Office of Student life, said, “The
Involvement Fair shows students the wide range of student run clubs and organizations we have on campus and gives them an easy way to get that information.”
Also on hand were representatives from the Colorado Rapids, Qdoba, and Xfinity. There were student groups such as the Auraria Students for the Humane Treatment of Animals, Auraria Young Democrats as well as many Greek affiliated chapters.
Among the flyers being handed were some offering free food including cotton candy and popcorn as well as drinks. Halter said of the casual atmosphere, “We try to make it
laid back and fun so students feel more comfortable approaching the tables.
“Research shows that students who are more involved on
campus tend to get better grades, feel greater satisfaction with their school experience, and are more likely to go on to graduation.” Halter added.
The Office of Student life has several events planned on campus to encourage student engagement. A full list can be found here.
